Armenia
At Erebuni Medical Center in Yerevan, home to the first and only emergency medicine program in Armenia, the emergency department is run by Dr. Armine Sanamyan. She wanted her team to have a place to rehearse the worst emergencies before they happen, so she reached out to Traveling Doctors of Armenia for help building a high-fidelity simulation center at Erebuni.
Traveling Doctors of Armenia, founded by Dr. Armine Barkhudaryan, is working with Dr. Sanamyan and her faculty on that effort. Alongside the simulation center, the work includes strengthening resuscitation education in Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support, so local physicians can train in the care of their most critical patients and go on to teach those skills themselves.
Atlas Global Health connected with Traveling Doctors and supported their effort. Through our global network, including collaborators in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine and Dr. Sharon Chekijian, we helped bring educators, experience, and resources alongside the team in Armenia. The effort belongs to the physicians at Erebuni and to Traveling Doctors. Our part is to connect and support.
