In September 2025, Atlas Global Health collaborated with Moi University, AMPATH, and local technology provider Karibu Connect to address critical infrastructure challenges at Metkei Health Centre in Kenya's Elgeyo-Marakwet County. Serving communities across three counties, the facility manages approximately 400–500 patient encounters and 10 deliveries monthly, despite frequent power outages and unreliable internet connectivity. Working with local stakeholders and technical partners, the initiative brought together the expertise and resources needed to develop a solution suited to the facility's circumstances. The resulting installation included a 4.64 kWp solar array, 10 kWh of battery storage, and satellite internet connectivity, providing reliable infrastructure for essential clinical services.

Designed around the facility's operational needs, the initiative established infrastructure that local healthcare teams could continue using beyond the initial installation. Digital workflows saved clinical staff up to 10 hours per week, increased patient consultation capacity, and replaced paper-based insurance claims that had delayed reimbursement by as much as three months. In April 2026, Kenya's Ministry of Health upgraded Metkei from a Level 2 dispensary to a Level 3 Health Centre, expanding its clinical capabilities, staffing eligibility, and reimbursement opportunities. The benefits extended into the surrounding community when a second satellite terminal was relocated to a nearby secondary school, providing connectivity for its computer laboratory. Together, these developments demonstrate how locally informed partnerships can create lasting benefits beyond the original project.
